Right now I'm sitting at a desk listening to the FINAL master of the new
Dappled Cities album (Zounds) which is a simply stunning piece of pop art, combining the glory of, say,
Pet Sounds with the electricity of an
LCD Soundsystem trip. Then tomorrow
Old Man River commences mixing his sophomore album, a mesmerising album recorded in
Sydney,
Tel Aviv and
Mumbai. And within days we'll be listening to that too. I can't explain how different the making of those 2 records has been. Not through anything other than circumstance mind you. One of them was wrestled into existence all bloody and cut, & forcepts were necessary for the final heave-ho.....while the other album arrived as a multi-part dream that was making no sense at first but slowly weaved itself into existence. And then, and then.......
The Seabellies commence recording their debut album in a couple of weeks. And the demos are vivid, cinematic and spellbinding, so we can only hope to build on that right? I do love my job.
